Description: The Steel Materials and Processing
Methods Course focuses particularly on steel, however emphasis will be placed on
other selected metals as well. The production, application and
manufacturing of each kind of metal will be covered in the course. A
brief discussion of properties and behavior of the metals will be
submitted for a better understanding of the subject, to aid with selection
and use of materials. Finally, the course provides major
classifications of steel and discusses several application uses of steel.

Lesson 2 - Steel Structure, Properties and Heat Treating
Objectives:
Lesson 3 - Surface Treatment, Classifications and Applications for Steel
Objectives:
- Recognize the 2 primary types of surface hardening and recognize the hardening methods used with steel.
- Differentiate between high, medium, low carbon steel.
- Learn about the two SAE specifications covering automotive sheet steels
