Objectives:

Recognize routine maintenance as a normal part of production, and major maintenance as a substantial cost.

Gain knowledge about the quotation process and the complete quotation analysis, which is involved when purchasing a mold.

Explain why tooling standards are important when soliciting bids for tooling construction.

Lesson 2 – Mold Classification and Mold Materials

Objectives:

Develop an understanding of how molds are classified.

Recognize the three general grades and classifications of injection mold inserts.

Compare various mold steels to determine what material is best for an application.

Lesson 3 - Mold Preventive Maintenance

Objectives:

Identify the four factors that determine the degree and frequency of tool maintenance.

Understand the importance of a maintenance manager.

Recognize an ideal team for designing a part and mold, and understand the roles they are responsible for.
