Course Description: The Metals Manufacturing and Processing course  focuses on steel and aluminum materials, their refining, processing and end use applications, and the fundamentals of metal corrosion are also discussed.  The course also explains four methods of manufacturing articles from metals: Sheet Metal Stamping, Die Casting, Welding, and Hydroforming.

  • Identify the various forming modes used in sheet metal stamping.
  • Describe the six basic types of stamping dies used for sheet metal.
  • List the various components of a die casting die and what function they serve in the process.

Lesson 5 - Welding and Hydroforming

Objectives:

  • Compare and contrast the two major divisions in welding methods.
  • Explain the difference between mechanized and robotic welding.
  • Gain knowledge on the process of hydroforming and the applications where it is used
